Conditions We Support
Therapeutic phlebotomy requires a written order from your physician. Mariposa performs prescribed draws for:
- Hereditary hemochromatosis (iron overload): regular draws are the standard treatment for reducing ferritin levels, often every 1 to 8 weeks
- Polycythemia vera: prescribed draws to manage elevated red blood cell counts
- Secondary polycythemia and elevated hematocrit from testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)
- Porphyria cutanea tarda and other conditions where your doctor prescribes blood removal
If you have a standing order for recurring draws, we can set up a repeating schedule so you never have to sit in an infusion center waiting room again.

- Get your doctor's order. Your physician or hematologist writes an order specifying the volume and frequency. We can coordinate directly with their office.

- We come to you. Ellie performs the draw at your home, office, or care facility following your order exactly, with hospital-grade technique and full documentation.
- Repeat on your schedule. For standing orders, we pre-book your recurring visits so treatment never lapses.
Therapeutic Phlebotomy Pricing
Therapeutic phlebotomy visits are $250 per draw, travel included, with transparent pricing shown before you book. We do not bill insurance directly, but we provide a detailed superbill you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement. For recurring standing orders, ask about pre-booking your full draw schedule.

How often will I need therapeutic phlebotomy?
Your physician sets the schedule. Hemochromatosis patients often start weekly or biweekly until ferritin targets are reached, then move to maintenance draws every 2 to 4 months. We support standing orders with pre-booked recurring visits.
Can you do therapeutic phlebotomy for TRT patients?
Yes. If testosterone replacement therapy has raised your hematocrit and your prescriber has ordered therapeutic draws, we perform them at your home on your schedule.
